Riding a wave of immense popularity, ‘The Voice’ UK’s Jamaican finalist, Gevanni Hutton, is sharing insights and lessons learnt on his musical journey in an interview with Deiwght Peters, set to air this Sunday on Television Jamaica (TVJ).

The musically gifted teenager, who migrated to London in 2018 to live with his father, placed third in Season 9 of the hit reality show and singing competition, which broadcasted its finale on November 14. Hutton’s parents also join in, speaking on their son’s journey and impressive “will to survive”.

Hutton, who sang Bob Marley’s No Woman, No Cry with his Voice coach, music superstar Will.I.Am and singer, and songwriter Carole King’s standard, You’ve Got A Friend as his swan songs on last week’s final episode, is eager to share his fascinating life story with Jamaican fans.

“It’s a real treat to have Gevanni on this week’s show after his amazing performance on the popular British TV talent show,” an excited Peters shared with The Gleaner, shortly after wrapping up their Zoom interview.

Calling himself a fan, Peters says he has been tracking the 18-year-old’s steady ascent on the hit London-based reality series.

“Celebrating Jamaicans who make impressive strides internationally is part of the DNA of my show, and Gevanni’s achievement is, without doubt, amazing in and of itself, particularly as he lives with Type 1 Diabetes but he does not in any way allow it to deter from working towards living his dream,” he said.

Peters will be also be joined by French ambassador to Jamaica Denys Wibaux who shares his special love for Jamaica in a fun game with the show host dubbed ‘Sweet, sweet Jamaica, naa lef yah’. Ironically, this month the Pierre Lemaire-led Club France, in association with The Embassy of France, The Alliance Francaise and Saint International Models, should have been celebrating the 20th-anniversary edition of Touch of France, the multi-day trade and culture showcase. Saint has been a longtime supporter of the initiative, having partnered in its very first year of inception. The show will also feature Saint model Wayne Booth, who has starred in global advertising campaigns for Barneys, Chanel, MAC and Zara and made the cover of magazines such as Suitcase and A Magazine. The much-loved Glamour Zone segment will also feature an electrifying fashion showcase of holiday menswear looks and an exclusive debut of the new branded shoe line from the popular Enigma boutique.

Rolling with Deiwght Peters airs on Sundays at 4 p.m. and repeats on Wednesdays at 1:05 p.m. on TVJ.
