Esh Morgan, the grandson of Denroy Morgan, wrote a tribute for his grandfather as a part of his ‘100 Songs in 100 Days’ challenge, just three days before Morgan Heritage family patriarch’s ascension into Zion.

When playing the song for his grandfather the next day, the soothing chords and melody not only had Denroy rocking and dancing with his children and grandchildren, but he also added melodic writing that would become the title of the song when he hummed and sang the words I Will Never Forget with Esh’s father, Mojo Morgan, and his siblings. The song is an emotional tribute to the iconic legend that mourners around the world can appreciate and love.

The celebration of life for Bishop Denroy Morgan will take place over two days this weekend. Today, there will be a viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the National Indoor Sports Centre. Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange has outlined that members of the public attending the centre to pay their respects to this “pioneer of reggae music” are required to wear masks, sanitise and observe physical distancing. On Saturday, a motorcade will depart Perry’s Funeral Home with stops at Spanish Town Square, 12 Tribes of Israel HQ on Hope Road, and on to Heritage Estate in Port Morant, St Thomas, for the interment.

I Will Never Forget features PRIEL, Raiah, Esh Morgan and Jemere Morgan and will be officially released on April 15.

Denroy Morgan was the father of 30 children and had more than 120 grandchildren.

Lord Abstract links Beenie Man, Mr Lexx for ‘Body Hot’

Hip hop artiste Lord Abstract, who hails from Lansing, Michigan, and lives in Nashville, Tennessee, has an affinity for Jamaican dancehall music. For his new song, Body Hot, the rapper went straight to the source to tap the legendary Beenie Man and Mr Lexx.

Body Hot embodies elements of the renowned ‘90s dancehall era that is still celebrated today. Lord Abstract laid the foundation with his contiguous hook and opening verse, then rallied the best of the best from this pivotal period. Beenie Man is in rare form channelling a boastful freestyle flow, and this is Mr Lexx’s first time touching a mic since he recovered from his sudden lung collapse that occurred on stage at the top of the year. The song is off the Hostile Takeover riddim which was created by producers Jermaine ‘Lenky’ Edwards and Norman ‘Bulpus’ Bryan. It is mixed by Tony ‘CD’ Kelly.

“It’s an absolute honour to work alongside reggae legends like Beenie Man and Mr Lexx,” states Lord Abstract.

The single is already making an impact on North America’s commercial radio and overseas in London.

Lord Abstract will perform on Saturday at the Spring Bling 2022 festival in Rochester, NY, among some of the Caribbean’s top acts. Body Hot is available on all streaming platforms.
