In an earlier address to the family, Entertainment Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange called herself the second mom for the Morgan family, and here joins Gramps in comforting the matriarch as she rest her head on the coffin of her late husband, Bishop Denroy Morgan.

The rich legacy of late veteran singer Denroy Morgan was front and centre at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston on Friday at what was truly a celebratory event for his life.

Among those paying tribute to the trailblazer were former Prime Minister PJ Patterson, motivational speaker and author Iyanla Vanzant, Joe Bogdanovich and Senator Damion Crawford.

The I’ll Do Anything For You hitmaker was commended for being the first Jamaican artiste signed to a major record label and playing a pivotal role in the success of his offspring group, Morgan Heritage.

Regal in white and gold, the Morgan clan filled the seats inside the venue as they paid their last respects to a beloved father, teacher and preacher. Gramps Morgan hailed his mother, Hyacynth, the wife of the late reggae pioneer who had been with him since she was 16. He told his family to continue to uphold the principles of Ras Denroy Morgan.

Musical tributes came from several acts including Nyahbinghi Drummers, Dean Fraser, Sheldon Palmer, Bushman and Bongo Herman.

Denroy Morgan passed away on March 3 in Georgia. He was 76.
