With the reopening of the entertainment sector, Aidonia is looking forward to a jam-packed schedule for the summer.

The recording artiste delivered a high-powered performance on Saturday at the Campari ‘Respect The Bitter’ campaign launch, held at Mystix Club on Hagley Park Road in Kingston. Deejaying his hits, the Campari brand ambassador effortlessly entertained the crowd as he moved from the stage to the audience.

Speaking with The Gleaner after his performance, Aidonia said, “Is two years since me nuh see my fans or get to perform live; and me love my fans, and me love to perform. I was looking forward to the sector going back to normality, to interact with the people because they are who make you know what you have done a gwaan good, and it also makes you know what direction to go.”

At the start of the pandemic in 2020, Aidonia graced virtual stages for events such as Digicel’s One Love Together and participated in the Reggae Sumfest x Facebook influencer panel, but he had fingers crossed that 2021 would see persons returning outside; however, this was not so, much to the artiste’s disappointment. Instead, he dedicated time to recording, rehearsing, and to time with his family.

Over the past two years, he released a small number of songs that were accompanied by visuals, including Look, Oh Ye and Dat Eazy. In anticipation of the 2021 summer party season, he officially released the single titled U Know The Vibe on June 4. It became one of the popular anthems for the summer, but less than seven weeks after Jamaica’s entertainment sector was reopened under stringent curfew and gathering protocols, the island experienced a third wave of COVID-19, and the government pulled the plug on events.

SEASON OF CELEBRATION

Aidonia, in a previous interview, shared that he had taken up gardening as a pastime during that time. Now, the entertainer is looking forward to yet another season of celebration with the production of more music. He is currently promoting Psychopathic, a collaboration with Intence released earlier this year.

“Persons can expect the release of more singles and music videos; we just doing the work we always do. The summer season is a time me always try to put my best foot forward, so nothing has changed in that respect; a just that right now,” Aidonia said.

Aidonia hosts a weekly session at The Terrace Bar & Grill at Hillview Avenue called ‘Yea Yea Wednesdayz’, which is sponsored by Campari. He is billed on the much-anticipated return of Alkaline’s ‘New Rules’ live show and is on the roster of artistes to perform on Reggae Sumfest for Festival Night 1 on Friday, July 22. This weekend, fans of the 4th Genna leadman can find him performing at Munga Honorable’s birthday party, ‘Bad From Mi Born’, in St Mary.

“It’s a great look from there are platforms like these to showcase talent. New Rules is a top event locally and internationally, so to be part of it, is a great look. Same for Reggae Sumfest. As Campari’s brand ambassador, I plan to take the campaign message worldwide. The brand has been supporting me, and me supporting them, for many years, and we aim to get the most we can get out of this partnership. It is the best feeling, once you work and know that what you did, and [what you are] still doing, is appreciated,” Aidonia shared.
