After a gruelling best of 10, dub-fi-dub round, Bass Odyssey emerged the winner of the 2022 Reggae Sumfest Global Sound Clash. The "sound from the country" snatched the victory from defending champion, Warrior Sound from Germany, and walked away with the trophy, a total of $350,000 in cash and bragging rights.

Throughout the night, Bass Odyssey frontman Damian 'Delingy' Dwyer was vocal about his goal to have the trophy find a home in Jamaica, but with Warrior Sound going hard, at times, that prospect looked a bit bleak.

Actually, the writing was on the sound box from the very first round that Warrior Sound was hell-bent on winning the Global Sound Clash. And with each successive round, selector Mattia Ruebenstruck made it more apparent that he would be the man at the end of the night, just as he did in 2019.

Armed with a slew of custom dub plates, so much so that one selector asked cheekily if Warrior Sound "was a customs officer", a confident Mattia unleashed tunes from the incarcerated Tommy Lee, Vybz Kartel and newcomer Skeng. And his sets included expletives, which were barred from this competition and nearly got him disqualified. However, he returned apologetically and played another round without any curse words.

After Exodus was disqualified for using expletives and two other sounds, Mystic from Canada and Silver Hawk, were eliminated, two sounds were left to engage in the crucial dub-fi-dub round, which would see the settlement of all arguments.

Bass Odyssey got off to an incredible start and won the first five rounds, after which Warrior Sound made the expected comeback and won the next three.

For the ninth round, Warrior Sound played a Beenie/Bounty combination and got a huge forward, but Bass Odyssey responded with a Bounty dub that decided the course of the night. At the end of the voting, Bass Odyssey was declared the winner.

Delingy said he was overjoyed.

For placing second, Warrior Sound received $150,000; third place went to Silver Hawk, which won $100,000.
