18-year-old hopes to inspire with single Cry
Eighteen-year-old Brandon Coke is on a mission to change the constant devastating news and has released his latest single Cry, which he hopes will reassure the island’s youth.
Coke blends genres by taking from his Jamaican roots and creating his own. He composed the gospel song Cry, inspired by Jeremiah 29:11, which states, “for I know the plans for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
According to Coke, Cry, released on January 20, is a method for him to combat the harassment and violent acts being committed against children in his age group and younger. The song is available on all major digital distribution platforms and will be a part of his upcoming EP, which is expected to be released this summer.
Born in Melrose, Coke has been singing for 13 years and learned to play the guitar at eight. He has ambitions of becoming one of the greatest entertainers.
He developed his singing in the church choir and revealed that he is living through God’s purpose for his life, as he believes God has a message he wants to get to the world through him.
