WiFete and Xodus Remedy have partnered for Carnival in Jamaica 2023 to create what the organisers are marketing as “the largest event for Carnival Saturday in Jamaica”.

Aldwyn Wayne, CEO and founder of WiPay, sponsors of WiFete, shared that he had a vision of bringing the Trinidad carnival experience to Jamaica with major soca and dancehall headliners. He reached out to Scott Dunn, managing director of Dream Entertainment with an offer to merge the Smirnoff Xodus Remedy event with the WiFete event.

Dunn said that two things attracted him to this event and partnership. Firstly, the event was aligned with the Xodus brand of being the biggest and the best, and secondly, there were many events happening on April 15, but coming together would guarantee them being the biggest fete.

Smirnoff Xodus Remedy will have its own section within the WiFete Experience and the Remedy ticket is valid for WiFete. Patrons will have access to a special Xodus area that remains drink inclusive.

“The road march element will be removed, but the experience will be heightened by merging both event lineups for the same price. Remedy ticket holders can also upgrade their tickets to VIP at the gate for a fraction of the cost,” a press release stated.

Ajene Greene, director of GenX and co-producer of WiFete, expressed his pleasure with the partnership and highlighted the value of unity and building the Carnival in Jamaica product.

The combined lineup for the event will showcase some of the biggest names in soca and dancehall music, including Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, The Voice, Valiant, Agent Sasco, GBM Nutron, Nailah Blackman, and Skinny Fabulous.

WiFete is the only Carnival in Jamaica calendar event to exclusively showcase the top three Trinidad Soca Road March song winners on one stage - Bunji Garlin with Hard Fete, Nailah Blackman and Skinny Fabulous with Come Home, and Machel Montano with Like Yuhself.

Although Voice, the artiste, did not have a big carnival song this year, his inclusion in the festival adds another highly valued artist to the lineup.

“We are excited to bring together the best of Soca and Dancehall for Jamaica’s Carnival in 2023,” said Kibwe McGann. WiFete director.

“This collaboration creates a unique and unparalleled experience for fans. We look forward to creating an unforgettable event that will showcase the talent and energy of the Caribbean’s finest performers. As this is Jamaica, we felt it was also necessary to ensure that Reggae and Dancehall were represented. This influenced how we chose our acts and DJs.”
