Agent Sasco to release new album in 2024
Dancehall star Agent Sasco, widely known for his slew of hits in the music industry, is gearing up to release his next album in 2024, which is set to build on the best of his 2016 and 2018 albums, the Theory of Reggaetivity and Hope River.
“I’m in the early stages of mapping out a next album, realistically it will be a 2024 release. I think the Theory of Reggaetivity and Hope River both have elements we could expand on, so the next project will be a mixture of taking the best of those two,” said Agent Sasco ahead of this performance at the Red Stripe Flavours Kingston Artwalk Festival.
The dancehall veteran’s career in the music industry began in the early 2000s and has flourished ever since with a series of singles, collaborations and albums. He is popularly known for his hits such as Talk How Mi Feel, Ediat Ting and Winning Right Now. His last album, 52 Way: The Sequel, was released in 2020.
Speaking about what his fans can expect from the new album, he added, “At this stage of my life and development, my music certainly represents my values in a very real way, so whatever you hear on those records is what I very much care about.”
Agent Sasco continues to be highly sought out for his musical talents, with his most recent performance being at the Kingston Creative Art Walk Festival. The event locked down the streets of Water Lane, downtown Kingston, for a celebration of Jamaica’s cultural diversity in the arts, food and dance, with an exciting carnival twist.
Agent Sasco delivered an A1 performance to the large crowd gathered, singing favourites from his albums and several of his hit singles, which left the crowd ecstatic. The event also featured numerous art exhibits, an artisan village with booths of various arts and craft, sip and paint sessions, face painting, dance performances, a wide variety of delicious food and the sweet sound of Merritone calypso throwbacks throughout the day. The Art Walk, a free event, honours the designation of Kingston as Music City in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Creative Cities Network and showcases local artistic and cultural talent every last Sunday of the month.
Sharing his thoughts on the initiative, Agent Sasco said, “There’s a lot of effort, investment and resources being poured into Kingston as a destination for entertainment, art and culture and it’s great to be a part of it from a music perspective. The potential of Kingston is enormous and with initiatives like these, we can harness a lot of that potential. To know that Red Stripe Flavours is a part of this comes as no surprise, as they’ve always been a supporter of the industry and it’s not something we take for granted.”
Even in his hip hop collaborations with Grammy award winners Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar, Agent Sasco has always been proud to represent Jamaica wherever he goes. He looks forward to bringing to his supporters, far and wide, more music that represents his experiences and the perspectives he wants to share with the world.
