Auraiya healing the world with music

Medical doctor and recording artiste Auraiya strongly believes that music has healing powers.
“Music is more than just a passion for me ... it is a form of therapy. I also believe it has the power to be the same for others. Good music calms and soothes the soul,” she explained.
Although she has always loved music, from as early as she can remember Auraiya had no intentions of becoming a recording artiste.
“I’ve always had a passion for writing songs and creating melodies. This is something that gave me peace and satisfaction and when I shared my songs with my friends, they also found pleasure in them. So, I finally decided to pursue music professionally during the pandemic when I made my recording debut with the release of my single titled This Must Be Love,” said Auraiya.
The soft-spoken singer who is a general practitioner is currently promoting her latest single which is titled Pendulum.
The song was produced and released by Rocky Valley Records in June. The video was released on July 29.
“This song highlights some of the issues that women have to deal with in relationships with men who are cheating. I’m not a feminist, however, I want women to feel empowered and know their worth. Women need to understand that they should walk away from relationships if they don’t feel valued. This song was also written for all the real men out there. Men must also know their value and never be a ‘Pendulum’,” she said.
She is also working with Rocky Valley Record, Heart Cor Productions and Nyah Bless Music to produce her upcoming debut album which is titled The Chronicles of Love.
“This album focuses primarily on the complexities and challenges of pursuing love, falling in love, being in love, staying in love, and establishing long-lasting relationships. It spans various genres and styles to suit a wide variety of audiences.”
Auraiya whose given name is Gayan Smith, was born and raised in Kingston. Some of her other songs are This Must Be Love, Take My Pain Away, Beside Me, and No Ordinary Love.
