SOCA+ 2023 evolves into 12-hour music festival
The second staging of SOCA+ is set to be a 12-hour “festival feting marathon” featuring live performances from top regional acts including Destra, Aidonia and Skinny Fabulous.
Powered by I LOVE Soca Jamaica, SOCA+ will take place on Saturday, September 30, at Sabina Park in Kingston from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. on October 1.
“SOCA+ is every feter’s fantasy; it has all the elements of our favourite events. We [are celebrating] 12 years since the first staging of I LOVE Soca by partying non-stop for 12 hours with DJs from Africa, North America, Jamaica and the Caribbean. We rave with three big performances from Destra (Trinidad), Aidonia (Jamaica) and Skinny Fabulous (St Vincent) then we cool down in our SOCA+ water segment and we recharge with complimentary breakfast at 7 a.m.” said Andrew Bellamy, managing director of I LOVE Soca Cooler Festival.
Patrons will be allowed to bring their coolers and their choice of beverages from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. Folding chairs and beach-sized towels are also permitted.
The live performances featuring, Destra, Aidonia and Skinny Fabulous are scheduled for 2 a.m., 4 a.m., and 6 a.m., respectively.
A food village will offer a variety of culinary delights on sale. Hydration stations will be also be available throughout the venue.
Patrons are encouraged to dress comfortably for the extended party period and the amenities of the venue are expected to meet the demands of the marathon partiers.
“We don’t anticipate our soca lovers getting overly exhausted based on all the entertainment stimuli we have coordinated throughout the venue; however, the stadium stands will also be available for ‘soca+ rest’,” said Bellamy. He also recommended including sunscreen and sunglasses for the grand rising of the sun after a memorable night.
