Champeon pays tribute to ‘Real Friends’ on new soca single
Multigenre Caribbean singer, songwriter, and entertainer Champeon has unveiled his new soca single titled Real Friends.
This latest song adds to the mix of new releases for what is already gearing up to be a massive 2024 Carnival season in Trinidad & Tobago and the international festival circuit.
Champeon, who is currently based in the US, has for years consistently represented the culture of his native Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean in general with several musical offerings and performances. He always aims to supply powerful messages within his music and continues this pattern with his latest Real Friends.
“ Real Friends is a song dedicated to the people one considers true friends in one’s life ... those people near or far who provide honesty, unconditional love, and support. The type of friends with whom one can maintain a strong bond due to a steady foundation of friendship regardless of frequent or infrequent communication,” Champeon said
The infectious Real Friends was produced by Julian Nelson of Juelio Productionz, who has produced hit soca tunes for the likes of Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Kes The Band, and the late great Blaxx.
Regarding the motivation behind the single, Champeon shared, “I think about all the people who are close to me in this life. I am so honoured and thankful to celebrate my friendship by releasing this song to show my appreciation to all my real friends. I am also giving thanks for my deceased friends who have been important influences in my life, so I also dedicate this song to them.”
In the short time since its release, Real Friends has already gained encouraging reactions from listeners who have embraced the track due to its catchy, modern feel mixed with old-school appeal.
In this current era of fleeting connections and digital relationships, Champeon says his aim is to inject a level of positivity into the world with this new song and hopes that it will inspire people to love and cherish each other, resolve issues ,and not take the real friends in their lives for granted.
Even while promoting his own releases, the multifaceted Champeon is currently handing songwriting duties for other soca, reggae, and R&B artistes.
