Kurtici’s ‘Money to di Link’ encourages honest labour
London-based dancehall artiste, Kurtici, is on a high based on the encouraging response to his latest single, Money to di Link.
Speaking with The Gleaner earlier this week, the Kingston-born entertainer shared that the track, which has made such a big impression that local dancers have created a dance move for it, is featured on the playlists of the major weekly parties in Jamaica.
“It is doing really well and this is so not only because the lyrics are catchy but it gives a feel-good vibes and that is what is needed in the world. Jamaica is not at the best place right now in terms of violence and so on ... so the people need a distraction and something to just make them feel happy. The dancer dem out dere a create dem dance fi it and a just bare vibes,” a pleased Kurtici stated.
Money to di Link, he said, encourages listeners to focus on making an honest living in order to uplift themselves.
“A lot of money songs are around because money is a topic that artistes seem drawn to. And a lot of times the focus is on making easy money. But my theme is straight up honest living, not the easy-come-easy-go kind of money. Honest money ... nothing less,” Kurtici said.
The single was released earlier this year and features production works from Aicon Records.
Kurtici emerged on the music scene approximately a decade ago. He has worked with several well-known producers such as Cashflow and Armzhouse records.
“I have also shared stage with Sizzla Kalonji and that has been a remarkable moment for me. Right now I am just putting in the work and waiting on that major breakthough which I think is right around the corner,” Kurtici said.
