Despite the threat of rain in early Saturday evening, scores of carnival lovers turned out for Campari Xodus Remedy: Glow Edition Mini Road March, held at the National Stadium. The first event in the band’s carnival lead-up roster went off without a hitch, much to the delight of the soca lovers present.

Decked out in their Monday-wear outfits, and geared with glow sticks, ‘feterans’ quickly transitioned into party mode as DJ Laing D, ZJ Zess, DJ Rico and Coppershot reeled off their sets in sync, not repeating any songs throughout the night. The unlimited flow of Campari mixes, accompanied by the food options, courtesy of KFC, Lucozade and Bad Dawg Sausages, kept the patrons buzzing and fuelled up.

“We are extremely happy with the turnout tonight. It is truly a great feeling to see our patrons really enjoying themselves, knowing that we did everything humanly possible to ensure they are wholly catered for and satisfied. This is just the beginning of what is to come for the remainder of the carnival season, and it really only gets better from here,” said Pierre Goubault, CEO of Xodus Carnival.

The atmosphere at the National Stadium became electrified, as patrons generously appreciated the healthy mixture of soca and dancehall hits that vibrated through the speaker boxes surrounding the venue. Friend groups could be seen dancing up a storm as they immersed themselves in the static soca energy.

Giving the event an excellent review, first-time reveller Owen Cardoza is officially a soca convert.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect tonight, as this is my first soca experience. My friend invited me out, promising me a great time, and I do not regret it. At first, it seemed a bit awkward, but things picked up really well when the trucks began moving for the road march aspect. I’ve never really listened to soca music before but, if this is what actual road march is like, I definitely have to be at the next one,” he shared.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., the most anticipated part of the night came to life. Patrons chipped down the road as the two massive carnival trucks took to the road for the mini road march, as promised. Patrons were visibly excited, and the nostalgia was palpable as they reminisced on their previous road march experiences while anticipating the upcoming one.

Xodus carnival’s journey to road march continues on December 28 with their signature tailgate party, Campari Xodus Tailgate.
