Demopage back on stage following heart attack
United States-based dancehall artiste Demopage says he feel blessed to return to the stage and the recording studios following major issues with his health earlier this year.
Demopage shared that in April he was awakened from his sleep by a stabbing pain in his chest.
“It felt like I was being choked and sweat was washing my body. Mi not even sure how to describe the pain because is like somebody tek mi chain and just a choke mi. The way mi panic is like mi not even memba seh mi could call the emergency services. Mi stumbled until mi reach the car and drive go hospital,” Demopage said.
The entertainer said that a series of tests later revealed that he had suffered a cardiac arrest.
“All of this was frightening, and still frightening to me. But it make mi realise how bless mi is, because some people just get one heart attack and dead. Mi change up mi lifestyle and still a take mi meds and just a think positive. Mi focus is on life and music, and just positivity overall,” he said.
With that mindset, he has been accepting show dates and giving his best. One such was the Intence Day Splutter, held at the Majestic Event Centre in Orlando, Florida. The event was headlined by dancehall artiste Intence who was making his debut performance in Florida.
“It was very unbelievable the way the crowd respond to me.This performance show mi how mi grow as an artiste over the years. Mi stage presence and mi ability to capture mi audience improve, and mi just feel good about all of this,” a grateful Demopage said, adding that he performed several of his singles, such as Cheat on, Cah Style Mi and Do it.
Demopage, given name Damion Page, was born in Portmore, St Catherine. He migrated to the US more than a decade ago.
