Musical Delights, the annual fund-raising concert staged by the Lions Club of Kingston, will live up to its reputation for featuring legendary Jamaican performers, when the show blasts off at 6 p.m. on February 11, in the gardens of The Jamaica Pegasus.

The 14th renewal will feature three such singers, Pinchers, Nadine Sutherland and Leroy Sibbles, all of whom have secured their place in the pantheon of great Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall entertainers.

Pinchers is making his first appearance on Musical Delights and his fans are preparing for a joyride when he delivers his hit songs, including For Your Eyes Only, Champion Bubbler, Bandilero, Live it Up Again, Agony and Return of the Don. Pinchers, who is renowned for his elaborate stage outfits, said he chose the name of a workman’s tool in keeping with a trend by his siblings, Spanner Banner, Screwdriver and Pliers.

Also set to make her Musical Delights debut will be former child prodigy, Nadine Sutherland, who burst on the scene after winning the Tastee Talent competition in 1979 at age 12. Sutherland is on a comeback on the local scene after several years abroad, during which she completed her studies in Cultural Studies. ‘Delighters’ can expect to hear her big hits, Action, Babyface and Anything for You.

Leroy Sibbles is making his third appearance on the annual fundraiser. The former lead singer of the Heptones will belt out hits such as I Shall Be Released, Book of Rules, Party Time, Pretty Looks, Fatty Fatty and Sea of Love, in his usual energetic style.

Other acts featured in this year’s show will include the queen of cabaret, Maria Myrie; trombonist/singer Everton Pessoa; stylist Jasmine Black; D’Kru; and Richie Kanary, supported by Errol Lee and the Bare Essentials Band. The emcee for the event will be Dr Michael Abrahams.

Proceeds from the show will benefit the Lions Sight Foundation, located at 30 Beechwood Avenue. The foundation provides screening services for residents in the Corporate Area and beyond, as well as for children with visual challenges whose schools are visited by the mobile screening unit.
