Valiant grateful for MOBO Award win

Dancehall artiste Valiant is thanking his "true fans and supporters" following his win for Best Caribbean Music Act at the 26th Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards. The announcement was made on the @moboawards Instagram page earlier today during their online pre-show.

In response to the win, the Speed Off artiste, whose given name is Raheem Bowes, made a post on his Instagram speaking of his challenging journey in the industry. "[One] year and God has been so good to me, the journey has not been easy. Dancehall is no game but my faith and strong mind carried me all this way. I just want to thank all my true fans and supporters who believe in me. I want to thank my day one dwg (friends) dem."

Valiant was nominated alongside Byron Messia, Destra, Kabaka Pyramid, Popcaan, and Shenseea.

Dancehall artiste Skillibeng was named Best Caribbean Music Act at the 25th staging of the MOBO Awards.

International dancehall artiste Kranium and Jamaican actor and director Adjani Salmon, and British-Jamaican Lashana Lynch are also nominated for MOBO awards in the category of Video of the Year and Best Performance in a TV Show/Film, respectively. Kranium is nominated for Dirt in the Diamond Ep1: Mobay by Jords featuring Tay Iwar/ Stay Close featuring Kranium, directed by Renee Maria Osubu. While Salmon, who plays Kwabena in his original production Dreaming Whilst Black and Lynch is up for the role of Izogie in The Woman King. British actress and singer Déja J. Bowens, who has Jamaican roots, is also nominated in the category for the role of Vita in Netflix's Champion.

Other nominees of the Video of the Year category include: Number One Candidate, by Antslive and directed by Tom Emmerson; No More Naija Men by Enny and directed by Otis Dominique; Gorilla by Little Simz and directed by Dave Meyers; Mel Made Me Do It by Stormzy and directed by KLVD; Healing by Tion Wayne and directed by Wowa.

While other nominees in the Best Performance in a TV Show/Film are Damson Idris, for the role of Franklin Saint in Snowfall; Idris Elba for the role of Sam in Hijack; India Amarteifio as Queen Charlotte in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story; John Boyega as Fontaine in They Cloned Tyrone; Lashana Letitia Wright as Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever; Malcolm Kamulete as Bosco in Champion and Vivian Oparah as Yas in Rye Lane.
