After portraying reggae legend Peter Tosh in the recent Bob Marley: One Love movie, Alexx A-Game says he is ready to start firing on all cylinders.

Quantifying his time working on the film as a “grounding experience”, he said portraying the icon took him back to his roots.

“The love of music, the passion of music and just delving into a character that I look up to so much. Someone that I’ve always just idolised. Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, the whole Wailers, just that movement and that way how they live [for] people and fall for people, that resonated with me a lot and that just took me right there. And I’m still there,” he said said after his performance at Saturday’s Earth Hour JA.

Alexx A-Game, who has long been a fan of the event, said it has been a dream of his to grace the stage.

“I’ve always wanted to perform on Earth Hour. The way I go about things, even though I know it’s a desire for me to do it, I always wait until the time is right. So the time was right and Earth Hour reached out to me and I was more than happy. Like, I was elated to be a part of this celebration and this observation of life. The most I could do was come and give it my best and I tried.”

He said that since the start of the year, the stars have been aligning for him to delve back into his first love, music. Performing for as long as he can remember, it was his father who first taught him to play the keyboard as a child.

“I don’t know myself not doing music, I just go from one level to the next. It’s like, I start out playing the keyboard [and] that’s what I knew myself doing since birth. My father taught me to play the keyboard and I just started fooling around with other instruments, getting into just different areas of the music until it led me to singing and writing lyrics. I’m still just doing everything right now, producing my own music, producing for my friends and looking to expand on the production side and just really making pure, pure music.”

Building his discography of “pure music”, his latest single More Life was released in January.

More Life is just the soundtrack to my life right now,” he began. “It’s a deep song for me. A lot of people feeling the same about it and that’s because it’s coming from a real place and it’s about just life and reality.”

He added, “I wrote More Life last year after the death of my friend. I started writing it at that time and I wrote it as time went by, as certain other things happened. I celebrated my birthday, I had a son, so all of that just culminated into More Life.”

Now as the St Ann native eyes more acting roles and curates his upcoming project, he says his name is one to watch out for.

Of the project he said, “This one is the soundtrack to more life. Its like the soundtrack to life on a different level because I’ve been elevating a lot. I’ve been evolving, finding myself more, meditating a lot.”

“Believe me, I’m in touch with all the emotions right now. The sensitivity is on a high. So the people can just expect the best of Alexx A-Game from here on.”
