Kingsley Cooper passed away surrounded by family
Kingsley Cooper, attorney-at-law, fashion and entertainment trailblazer, founder and Chairman of Pulse Investments Ltd has died, a press release from his team stated.
Born in Kingston on June 3, 1953, Cooper celebrated his 71st two weeks ago.
Cooper, a Kingston College old boy, passed away surrounded by his family at the HCA Kendall Hospital in Miami, FL on Tuesday, June 18.
Through Pulse, Cooper pioneered and developed an international modelling industry for the Caribbean, in the process discovering and developing supermodels and other international stars.
The company created new opportunities for local and international talent in music and fashion. Pulse promoted and produced renowned international events such as Reggae SuperJam and Caribbean Fashion Week. The events featured headliners including Chaka Khan, The Commodores, Run DMC, Kelly Roland, Brian McKnight, Billy Ocean, Dennis Brown and Peter Tosh.
Cooper was instrumental in establishing the Peter Tosh Museum at Pulse's headquarters, 38a Trafalgar Road, Kingston.
With Cooper's leadership Pulse diversified its business to include media, real estate and hospitality. Pulse was the first company of its kind to be listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
"We mourn the loss of an innovator, extraordinary leader, father, husband, and visionary. The Cooper family is immensely grateful for his life and legacy and we thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support," the release stated.
