Fresh off winning a silver award from the American Advertising Awards, the Reggae Sumfest team is now eyeing another milestone after receiving a nomination from the Caribbean Music Awards in the category of ‘Music Event of the Year’.

The Caribbean Music Awards is a platform that recognises and celebrates Caribbean talent and organisations that have significantly contributed to the region’s musical legacy. The organisers of Reggae Sumfest, known for its influential role in Jamaica’s music industry, expressed their honour at being considered for such a prestigious award.

Josef Bogdanovich, CEO of DownSound Entertainment, the organisers of Reggae Sumfest, shared his team’s excitement about the nomination, “We are thrilled to be considered for a Caribbean Music Award,” Bogdanovich said. “Since taking over Reggae Sumfest in 2016, our goal has been to elevate the festival to a global stage, showcasing the vibrant energy and rich heritage of Jamaican music. This nomination is a testament to our hard work and dedication over the years. Reggae Sumfest is more than just a stage show; it’s a celebration of the Jamaican festival experience, a cultural phenomenon that brings together people from all walks of life to revel in the magic of reggae and dancehall. We are proud of this recognition, as it validates our efforts to create an event that not only entertains but also preserves and promotes our musical legacy on an international level. This acknowledgement inspires us to keep pushing boundaries and setting new standards for excellence in the festival industry.”

Robert Livingston, a director of Reggae Sumfest, echoed Bogdanovich’s sentiments. “Being nominated for the Caribbean Music Award is an immense honour and a reflection of our commitment to the island’s entertainment industry. This recognition highlights the dedication and passion our team has poured into making Reggae Sumfest a premier event that showcases the best of Jamaican music and culture,” he shared. “Over the years, we have strived to create a platform that not only entertains but also uplifts and celebrates our rich musical heritage.”

Robert Russell, a director and founder of Reggae Sumfest, expressed his excitement over the nomination. “It’s a recognition of the hard work, creativity, and passion that our entire team brings to the festival every year. We’re committed to making Reggae Sumfest an unforgettable experience, and being acknowledged by the Caribbean Music Awards is proof of our dedication.”

In making the nomination announcement, the Caribbean Music Awards team highlighted Sumfest’s dedication, passion, and hard work, noting that these qualities made it easy to recognise their efforts.

The Caribbean Music Awards will be held on Thursday, August 29, at 8 p.m. at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. The evening, hosted by Wyclef Jean, promises to be an exciting celebration of Caribbean excellence.
