Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson competes in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke at the Olympic Games at the Tokyo Aquatic Centre in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday, July 25.

Alia Atkinson has enjoyed remarkable success in the pool over a long career and the University of the West Indies, in recognition of that, will be bestowing the five-time Olympian with an honorary Doctor of Laws.

Alia to receive LLD from The UWI

The University of the West Indies (UWI) will bestow Olympian Alia Atkinson with an honorary Doctorate of Laws (LLD) degree at its annual graduation ceremony this year. Atkinson previously received an Order of Distinction, Commander Class, from the Government in 2018.

Atkinson will be awarded at the Mona campus, where The UWI will have its ceremonies on November 4 and 5.
