First luxury bus here

The first luxury bus to be imported into Jamaica arrived in Kingston on Monday afternoon in the cargo vessel Albany from London.

The bus, an AEC Bellance Britannia, was ordered in England by Beryson Agencies Ltd of Kingston for the Morning Star Bus Company of Montego Bay at a cost of approximately £8,500.

It will be used by the Morning Star Company for sightseeing tours in the Montego Bay area.

The chassis of the Reliance Britannia was built at the AEC factory at Middlesex, England. The body was built by the Duple Body Works of Hendon.

The bus, which can seat 41  persons, was unloaded at Royal Mall Wharf yesterday morning.

Similar buses are being used in England for sightseeing tours. The bus is air-conditioned, with wide glass windows, and is fitted with adjustable seats, among other features.
