Futurist Ray Kurzweil has predicted that people will be able to live forever by 2030, as nanobots injected into the blood will be able to repair damage to the body.

He told Futurism: "We will be able to advance life expectancy by more than a year every year, and I think we can get there by the end of this decade."

Kurzweil has previously made accurate predictions about advancements in technology, and he foresaw how handheld devices would become a big part of daily life.

He is convinced that artificial intelligence will be more knowledgeable than the human race by 2045.

The computer scientist said: "I have set the date 2045 for the 'Singularity', which is when we will multiply our effective intelligence a billionfold by merging with the intelligence we have created."
