THE PEOPLE’S National Party (PNP) last night said it deeply regretted a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a youth in the Southboro division during a party motorcade travelling through Portmore, St Catherine.

The youth, a 15-year-old boy, reportedly fell off a bus and later died at the Spanish Town Hospital.

The incident was confirmed by Senior Superintendent of Police Christopher Phillips, commanding officer for the St Catherine South Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

PNP General Secretary Dr Dayton Campbell, according to a statement from the party, “expresses profound sadness and extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this unimaginably difficult time”.

The party added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grapple with the profound loss of their loved one.”

In light of the incident, the PNP said it was urging everyone to respect the privacy of the grieving family.

“We ask that they be allowed the space they need to navigate this heartbreaking situation,” the PNP said. “Furthermore, the PNP emphasises the importance of heightened vigilance and attention to safety among our supporters while campaigning.”
