When it comes to delectable dishes, nobody does it better than The Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week, and the countdown to the nine-day gastronomic feast has begun.

Despite the cancellation of a fabulous Cirque du Soleil-themed launch, due to Hurricane Matthew, the press conference held at The Gleaner's North Street offices on Tuesday, certainly left an impact. And speaking of an impact, Restaurant Week organisers and title sponsor, The Gleaner (media) Company Limited, presented a cheque to development and marketing manager of Food For The Poor Marsha Burrell-Rose for $100,000 for hurricane-ravaged Haiti.

Slated for November 11-19, the 12th staging of Restaurant Week is bigger and better. With more than 21 new restaurants, Restaurant week has now moved to Manchester and St Elizabeth and has a brand spanking new category- Caterers. Nine of the islands most prominent players in the culinary landscape has designed a 30 per cent discounted menu to reflect their style. That gives you the opportunity to dine in the comfort of your home or office and have all the finger licking goodness delivered to you, hence this year's theme -Eat In, Dine Out.

The formalities whetted the appetite, of the guests, and if the samplings were anything to go by, foodies are in for a treat this year. The aroma of the tantalising treats from Great House Caterers, Chung's Catering Services, Waterfalls, Cannonball Cafe and Tooksie Kay Catering filled the room and kept the serving lines long with repeat visits for seconds and thirds.

Select Brands and Pepsi was kept busy behind a well stocked bar and the signature drink -Absolut Seabreeze, was the perfect complement to the conversations that revolved around what else?
