Best Dressed family feast
Monday, which was observed nationally as Christmas Day, was indeed merry for Keystone, Spanish Town, St Catherine resident, Toni-Ann Brooks.
Her family and friends in the community were treated to a delightful feast by famed chef, Jacqui Tyson. Toni-Ann was the grand winner of The Best Dressed Chicken 12 Chefs of Christmas promotion. Not only did she get her dinner prepared by a master, she also won $600,000 worth of groceries for a year.
An elated Brooks told Food: "I have always bought The Best Dressed Chicken, so it was natural for me to enter the promotion. I thought that it would have been really cool if I actually won because at least, this time, mommy could get a break from cooking."
Brooks said when she heard she had won, at first, she thought it was a prank. "But after speaking to the representative a little longer, I realised it was real. I was super excited to win because I have never won anything like this before. And, I got my wish - now mommy could really get a break!"
It was a dinner with all the trappings - roasted chicken, baked ham, candied plantains, roasted rack of lamb, and the cherry on top - Tyson's Aunt Enid's English Christmas plum pudding.
"Everything Chef Jacqui Tyson prepared was awesome,"said Brooks. "However, my favourites were the ham and mac and cheese. I think this promotion by The Best Dressed Chicken is truly amazing and my family and I are very grateful that we won. And then to come out as the super prize winner of $600,000 worth of groceries for one year was unexpected, but very much welcomed."
