Where is Krispy Kreme? RAL says it’s almost here
When Food heard that popular doughnut chain Krispy Kreme was coming to Jamaica, our interest and taste buds were, and still are, piqued. The American doughnut company has signed a franchise deal with Restaurant Associates Limited (RAL), and is scheduled to open in Kingston by the summer of 2023.
Initially, the first Hot Light Theatre Shop in Jamaica, with its location at the intersection of Waterloo and Hope roads, was scheduled to be opened during the first quarter of this year. However, according to Sabrena McDonald Radcliffe, head of sales and marketing, they have been negatively impacted by global chain challenges, and subsequently they had to change the scheduled first-quarter opening.
“We are putting things in place to make sure that when we open our doors, Jamaica will get the same world-class Krispy Kreme experience that exists overseas,” McDonald Radcliffe said.
When opened, Kingston’s Krispy Kreme guests will be able to witness the journey of the freshly made doughnuts from start to finish through the Doughnut Theatre. “The unique delight of the Hot Light Theatre Shop will allow customers to see their doughnuts being made and will deliver hot-off-the-rack sweet treats whenever the hot light sign is on. Customers can also expect to enjoy the softest most delectable donuts that exist,” McDonald Radcliffe said.
The company is famous for its delicious doughnuts, but also offers soft drinks, hot drinks, sundaes and sandwiches, as well as frozen and iced beverages. Krispy Kreme’s most famous and bestselling product is the glazed, yeast-raised doughnut known as the ‘Krispy Kreme Original Glazed’. Which a little birdie told us is achieved by bathing the doughnuts in a glaze of icing sugar, vanilla extract and milk. Yum!
“Krispy Kreme, being the home of the original glazed doughnut , offers customers a melt-in-your-mouth, joy-at-first-bite experience that is incomparable. Our variety of doughnut toppings gives delicious options when buying a dozen box,” McDonald Radcliffe said.
Shortly after opening the flagship shop at Waterloo Road, RAL intends to open two more Krispy Kreme shops in Kingston.
RAL is also the franchise holder of Burger King, Popeyes and Little Caesars Pizza in Jamaica, Trinidad and Barbados, and has a footprint of over 90 restaurant locations across the Caribbean.
