Sagicor Foundation ready to roll-out community health tour
Sagicor Foundation goes on wheels as they roll out their Sagicor Mobile Wellness Units to touch more than 6,000 lives in more than eight parishes during its upcoming Community Health Tour.
The tour kick-starts on Monday at the Sagicor Life branch at the Spanish Town Business Centre, and culminates at Sagicor Life's head office in New Kingston on Wednesday, December 13.
"With health being a primary focus of Sagicor Foundation, we feel it is our duty to reach out and help Jamaicans who are not able to access nor afford some basic and essential health-care services," said Ingrid Card, executive director of the Sagicor Foundation and vice-president, group marketing, Sagicor Group Jamaica.
Card went on to explain that the health tour is another avenue through which the foundation carries out Sagicor's vision of improving the lives of people in the communities in which they operate, and the foundation's mandate of caring, inspiring and serving.
For more than 25 years, Sagicor has been committed to the well-being of Jamaicans, offering health-care services to Jamaicans in every nook and cranny across the island. Through its Mobile Wellness Units, the company highlights the importance of persons being able to access health services and tests from locations convenient to where they live and work.
The other health tour stops include Sagicor Bank, Fairview Montego Bay; Sagicor Bank Mandeville, Sagicor Life Ocho Rios Business Centre; Sagicor Bank Black River, Sagicor Life Savanna-la-Mar; Sagicor Bank Pines Plaza, Portmore, and Sagicor Bank May Pen.
The health tour will feature a day of free health-care services for blood pressure, vision/eye checks, blood sugar and blood cholesterol test.
"The tour will be more than a helping hand, but a means of enriching the lives of the Jamaican people," said Card.
The health tour is sponsored by The Gleaner (Media) Company Limited.
