Treating erectile dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to get or keep an erection firm enough to have sexual intercourse. It is sometimes referred to as impotence, although this term is now used less often.
Occasional erectile dysfunction is not uncommon. Many people experience it during times of stress; however, frequent erectile dysfunction issues can be a sign of health problems that need treatment. It can also be a sign of emotional or relationship difficulties that you may want to address with a professional.
Dr Janice Simmonds-Fisher, Anti-Ageing Physician and Stem Cell Research pioneer, said erectile dysfunction can affect a man’s confidence, interpersonal relationship and his overall health. Most times, she said, men do not want to do an investigation, and many miss the opportunity to extend their life.
Simmonds-Fisher, who has spent under a decade of her 19 years of clinical practice working in medical tourism and stem cell repair, said erectile dysfunction in and of itself is not an illness.
“It is a symptom of something else, something going on in the body. Is it showing us diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol? So, when a man erection starts going, and he starts taking medication for years, without checking it out fully, then he has forgotten that this is not an illness in and of itself. It is a symptom of an underlying dysfunction in the body,” Simmonds-Fisher said.
These underlying issues, Simmonds-Fisher said, could be diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, a hormonal situation or low nitric oxide. “Most times, they don’t want to do an investigation, and so they have no idea if there is a circulatory cause, or if there is a hormonal issue that is developing. Some of the causes can be life-threatening, including heart disease and prostate cancer,” she said.
Erectile dysfunction can be mild, moderate or severe, and that is why it is important to work with your doctor so that they can rule out or treat any underlying medical conditions.Testing for erectile dysfunction can involve a variety of steps, including a physical examination and examining your health and sexual history. Your doctor may order additional tests to determine if your symptoms are caused by an underlying condition.
Sexual dysfunction and ED become more common as you get older. Only about five per cent of men age 40 have it. But the number rises to 15 per cent of men age 70. This doesn’t mean growing older is the end of your sex life. Doctors can treat ED no matter your age. Age is not the only cause. Type 2 diabetes, obesity, smoking, and high blood pressure all make it more likely.
Specific treatments
Treatments for erectile dysfunction are usually effective and the problem often goes away. There are also specific treatments for some of the causes of erectile dysfunction. Medicine such as sildenafil (sold as Viagra) is also often used by doctors to treat erectile dysfunction. It is also available from pharmacies. Because of changes in regulations, you no longer need a prescription to get sildenafil. But you will have to have a consultation with the pharmacist to make sure it is safe for you to take it.
There are other similar medicines called tadalafil (cialis), vardenafil (levitra) and avanafil (spedra) that work in a similar way. You will still need a prescription to get these medicines.
However, Dr Simmonds-Fisher also recommends a drug-free solution for erectile dysfunction. With over 50 per cent of men suffering from erectile dysfunction, the ED1000 is the most effective solution on the market. This breakthrough, therapeutic treatment, brings long-lasting improvement for erectile function and sexual health to millions of men without pain or medication.
Sexual performance
Men who have taken advantage of this treatment have seen significant improvement in sexual performance, triggering the body’s natural repair mechanism, and enabling natural erection mechanism.
“Patients with treatment responses to ED1000 do not need to use medications (pills or injections) to get an erection suitable for intercourse. This means you do not need to rely on medications, take them before sex, or have to deal with side effects and the expense of ED medications. In addition, this is the best option for men who cannot tolerate some ED medications,” Simmonds-Fisher said.
This shockwave therapy, she said, is now the gold standard for erectile dysfunction. The shockwave is of a particular frequency that triggers the body’s repair cells into the area, and in doing so, it stimulates the repair of the receptors, but it also stimulates the creation of new blood vessels in the area. It is the first treatment that actually repairs.
“When you are working with repair treatments, the sooner you repair, the more repair you are able to accomplish. Whereas we have no issues starting the patients on the medications, we want to actually initiate a repair and know that we have the opportunity to repair those receptors and to keep youthful levels of the receptors,” Simmonds-Fisher said.
Each treatment session is approximately 20 minutes long. The entire treatment protocol consists of several sessions, which are conducted over a few weeks. You may notice a clear improvement within the first six sessions of your treatment.
Generally, following the initial series of treatments, no additional treatments are required. However, the treatment can be repeated as often as necessary, since it is non-invasive, painless, and there are no side effects.
