Friend's link to girl leads to Manchester man's death
MANDEVILLE, Manchester:
One man was killed and another injured in a stabbing incident in Mandeville, Manchester, early yesterday morning.
Reports are that the men were leaving a party in the company of a high-school girl when they were attacked.
Dead is Oshane Broomfield, 19, of Scotts Town in Manchester.
Superintendent of Police Melvin Brown, of the Mandeville Police Station, reported that approximately 12:30 a.m. yesterday, Broomfield, his friend and the girl were pounced upon by three men - two brothers and a cousin - while walking in the vicinity of the central bus park in the town.
The three men reportedly questioned Broomfield and his friend about their association with the girl, who is alleged to be the girlfriend of one of the accused.
The girl reportedly met Broomfield's friend on social media site, Facebook.
Broomfield and his friend, who had no prior encounter with the men, were stabbed several times, resulting in the 19-year-old's death, while his friend had to be hospitalised in serious condition.
Alwyn Miller, chief executive officer of the Mandeville Regional Hospital, said the other victim underwent surgery and was now in stable condition.
The police have taken the three accused into custody, but up to yesterday afternoon they had yet to be charged.
