Embassy facilitates contact with Jamaicans in France
French Ambassador to Jamaica, Jean-Michel Despax, has announced that a special telephone line has been established to allow Jamaicans to contact family and friends in France.
Despax said concerned Jamaicans may call 331-4550-3460 to contact families and friends in France.
This comes as both the French Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged late yesterday that there was no indication whether any Jamaicans were among the more than 120 persons killed in Friday's terrorist attacks in Paris.
Foreign Affairs Minister A.J. Nicholson has, however, given assurance that the Government will continue to monitor the situation closely.
French authorities say at least 129 persons were killed and more than 350 injured after eight gunmen and suicide bombers staged a series of coordinated attacks on bars, restaurants, a concert and a high-profile football match in the French capital.
