'He was a good officer' - Seaga shocked at bodyguard's murder

As he was preparing to leave for St Thomas to visit the family of Corporal Kenneth Davis, former Prime Minister Edward Seaga was still trying to come to terms with the news that the cop had been murdered.
Davis had been a long-standing member of the security detail which serves the former prime minister.
In an emotional interview with The Gleaner, Seaga disclosed that it was only a day before that he had spoken to Davis as he ended duties for the day.
"He was very diligent, always willing to serve and take up extra duties and knowledgeable of what he is to do. He was a good officer," Seaga said.
So long has the corporal served Seaga that he could not recall when he joined his personal security team.
"I can't remember that. It was quite far back. I don't even remember, but it was far back," he added, as he explained how shocked he was to learn that the officer had been murdered.
"It shocked us. We never expected anything thing like that because this has nothing to do with any grudge or any politics or anything like that. What I hear is that he was in the way of a shot that was [aimed] at another man that was killed."
Seaga went on to share that the murder of the officer has impacted him personally, as he was in daily contact with the corporal.
Seaga said that on the last day he saw Corporal Davis, "he was doing his work normally, just as he was trained to do it. Doing the personal protection as well as the driving, and I am really sorry for his wife and four children, and I want to express my condolences to them".
