Prime Minister-designate, Andrew Holness, yesterday requested a briefing from the financial secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Devon Rowe, on the state of Jamaica's economy. He also sought to get details from outgoing finance minister, Dr Peter Phillips, regarding Jamaica's current International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement, and matters related to the last proposed budget.

These requests were made during a meeting yesterday with Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, to outline plans for the transition of government. Holness' Jamaica Labour Party defeated the Portia Simpson Miller-led People's National Party in Thursday's general general elections.

Holness noted that he has had dialogue with the IMF's resident representative, Bert Van Selm, and that a meeting was scheduled for next week between the next government's financial team and the IMF.
