Grantley Stephenson and Scarlette Gillings have both been successful in their chosen fields of endeavour.

For their work they were named as Jamaica Institute of Management (JIM) managers of the year for 2015.

Stephenson, chief executive officer of Kingston Wharves Limited, has secured Jamaica's stake in the global logistics supply chain. Gillings, the former managing director of the Jamaica Social Investment Fund, has worked to empower the most vulnerable in the society.

Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, in presenting the awards at King's House on Thursday, said that the pair's commitment to the development of Jamaica highlights the potential that the country has to improve and achieve economic success.

HUMBLING EXPERIENCE

Stephenson said he was deeply humbled by the award.

"This recognition is a source of deep personal and professional gratification for me as it serves as an encouragement for me to continue. I am proud to be joining the esteemed ranks of many who have been recognised by JIM, as it seeks to groom the cadre of managers through the promotion of international best practises," he said.

Gillings was equally pleased about her award.

"How fortunate I am to be recognised for what has been my passion - community development," she said.
