Carreras warns of counterfeit Craven 'A'

Counterfeit Craven 'A' cigarettes are being sold in Kingston, St Andrew, Montego Bay and the Linstead/Bog Walk area of St Catherine, local distributor Carreras on Tuesday warned in a press release.

The counterfeit cigarette packs can be identified by a best before date of April 2014 and an accompanying product code with the digits: 870240322154. This date and code are located on the bottom side panel in black on each cigarette pack.

The company advised that the cigarettes seem to be old and very stale, and advised that customers may verify the product codes on Craven 'A' packs purchased by calling Carreras Limited at 749-9800.

"We also advise our customers that where persons approach your entities with a view to selling these illicit products, we urge you to forward that information to the police.

"The public is further advised that Carreras Limited will vigorously prosecute and/or seek civil remedies (including award of damages) against anyone identified as trading in counterfeit Craven 'A' cigarettes," the company warned.
