Anti-human trafficking efforts not focused on rankings, says justice ministry

Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Carol Palmer, says the ministry will continue to intensify its human-trafficking efforts despite its recent Tier-Two ranking by the United States Department of State in its 2016 Trafficking in Persons Report.
However, Palmer stressed that the goal of the ministry's efforts would not be to benefit from better rankings.
"We recognise it's a very serious, heinous and awful crime that is affecting the globe," she said.
"In fact, some literature I was reading the other day says it's one of the negatives of globalisation."
