Fraser-Pryce, Goodison to receive honorary doctorates from UWI

Jamaican track and field star Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and internationally acclaimed Jamaican writer and poet Lorna Goodison are among three people to be conferred with honorary doctorates by the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) during graduation ceremonies in October.

Danny Glover, American actor, humanitarian and Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund, will also be conferred with an honorary degree.

The university made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.

Glover and Goodison, the author of poem For My Mother (May I Inherit Half Her Strength) will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters.

Fraser-Pryce, a multiple Olympic gold medallist and one of Jamaica's greatest female athletes, will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws.
