The police say a series of operations spanning three parishes that were conducted by narcotics investigators have reaped major success, including the arrest of four persons, one of whom is wanted in Britain.
The police say they also seized more than $2 million worth of cocaine, an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition.
The operations were carried out between Wednesday and yesterday.
The police say the five will be interviewed in the presence of their attorneys and subsequently charged.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Glenmore Hinds, says the police made a deliberate move to ramp up its counter-narcotics operations this year.
He also said he expects significantly more seizures this year when compared with last year.
