Emergency work underway on Constant Spring Road after sewer line collapses
Emergency work is now under way on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew, where a collapsed sewer line caused a section of the roadway to cave in near Market Place, frightening several motorists in early morning traffic yesterday and causing lengthy delays.
The collapse of the sewer line has resulted in the closure of three of five available lanes along the roadway.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA) Stephen Shaw said the lanes will remain closed to vehicular traffic for at least the next three days while the repairs are being carried out.
The NWA is working with the National Water Commission to have the sewer line repaired and the roadway reinstated.
Motorists are being advised to use alternative routes, where possible. Those who decide to use Constant Spring Road should expect delays. One of the available lanes will allow for northbound traffic and the other for southbound traffic.
