Cash Plus trial scheduled to start today

The long-anticipated trial of former Cash Plus boss Carlos Hill is scheduled to get under way in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston today.
Hill is charged with fraudulently inducing persons to invest, arising from the collapse of the multibillion-dollar alternative investment scheme that crashed in 2008.
However, up to late yesterday, there was no word on whether the trial would commence because of the backlog of cases before the court.
In 2012, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions indicated that it was ready to start the trial and would be relying on nine witnesses.
Despite this, however, the trial remained stalled.
