Jamaica to redefine rape

Delroy Chuck, justice minister and chairman of a parliamentary committee reviewing Jamaica's sex laws, has given instructions to a law-reform team to come up with a "perfect definition" of rape that will satisfy the "United Nations and also the public at large".

He gave the instruction yesterday after the committee heard submissions from the UN representatives here who recommended that rape be defined as "against any person", which includes men and boys, while also removing any "restrictive conditions" regarding marital rape.
