Three found guilty of Valentine's Day killing of infant, man

Three men accused of the 2014 Valentine's Day shooting death of a 17-month-old child and a man in the east Kingston community of McIntyre Villa have been convicted on two counts of murder.
Damion Samuels, Maurice Robinson, and Alleon Ruddock were unanimously convicted in the Home Circuit Court yesterday.
The conviction falls within the legal definition of capital murder, but prosecutors Kathy Pyke and Steven Smith told the court that they were not seeking the death penalty.
The three are to be sentenced on March 29.
Prosecutors led evidence that on February 14, 2014, Troy Harvey was walking from a play area in the McIntyre Villa community with his 17-month-old son, Trejohn, when he saw the three men, armed with guns, emerge from a lane.
Harvey testified that one of the armed men went to a nearby shop and two stayed where he was standing with his son.
He said after a brief conversation, all three men opened fire and he ran, leaving his infant son.
Harvey said that he heard his 17-month-old crying and returned to find him with a gunshot wound to the head.
Another man, Damar McKenzie, was also killed in the shooting.
