Police mourn death of senior member’s son

The police fraternity has joined one of its senior members in mourning the loss of her son, who was one of the latest victims of the rampant killings in St James.
Twenty-nine-year-old Anthony Ross, who is the son of one of the heads of a branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, along with the driver of the Toyota Corolla taxi in which he was travelling, was shot and killed at about 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to the Corporate Communications Unit, upon reaching King Street, the taxi, which was operated by 35-year-old AndrÈ Craig Wright, otherwise known as Ming, and, which plied the Montego Bay to Cornwall Court route, was allegedly rear-ended by another car. Wright reportedly alighted to investigate when he was pounced upon by the occupants of the other car. They opened fire at him. He ran and was chased by the men, who shot him multiple times.
Ross, who worked and lived in Montego Bay, and another passenger in the taxi were also shot. Ross and Wright was pronounced dead, while the third man was treated for gunshot wounds to his right hip and released.
At least 44 murders have been recorded in St James since the start of the year.
