Two United States residents perished in an early morning crash on Saturday that involved three motor vehicles.

The crash, along the Queen's Highway, west of Discovery Bay, St Ann, along Jamaica's north coast, also resulted in three persons being hospitalised.

Dead are 34-year-old Jermaine Dujon Traverso of a Miramar, Florida, address and Dwayne Malcolm, whose address was not available.

The Constabulary Communi-cations Unit reported that Malcolm was driving a Toyota Wish motor car, with Traverso and another person as passengers, heading eastward towards St Ann's Bay at around 6:15 Saturday morning.

Malcolm reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which slammed into a trailer that was travelling in the opposite direction. The car then overturned and crashed into a Honda Fit motor car, which was also travelling in the opposite direction.

Traverso reportedly died on the spot while Malcolm was pronounced dead at the Falmouth Hospital. The third person in the car was hospitalised.

Two occupants of the Honda Fit motor car were also hospitalised.

The names of the three persons in hospital have not been released.
