The Clarendon police are on high alert as they try to prevent any further escalation of the gang war now gripping the King Street area of Lionel Town.

In the latest incident, five persons were shot, one fatally, in the area, on Tuesday, and sources say that the attack was reprisal for the July 2 fatal shooting of alleged gangster Everton 'Pan Head' McNeil of Lionel Town.

According to the police, about 11:55 on Tuesday night, several persons were at the Bird Nest Bar and Restaurant playing dominoes when two men walked up to them and opened fire, hitting five men.

They were taken to hospital, where 44-year-old carpenter Kingsly Henry, otherwise called 'Sleepy', of King Street, Lionel Town, was pronounced dead.

The injured men were identified as the operator of the bar, 33-year-old Sylvester Gordon, otherwise called 'Pigeon'; 33-year-old Danavay Mitchell; 26-year-old Carlie 'Dads' Edwards; and 38-year-old Dwight James, better known as 'Tuffman', all of Lionel Town addresses.

According to the sources, a man believed to be a key gang member was seen at the bar shortly before the attack, and it is believed that he was the target of the gunmen. However, he was not present when the gunmen struck.
