Fire Brigade drivers, mechanics go on work to rule
The National Workers Union (NWU) is advising that drivers and mechanics employed to the Jamaica Fire Brigade will go on work to rule beginning with the 7 o' clock shift Tuesday morning.
A work to rule means that employees cannot be asked to do any task outside of their contracts.
They will not work overtime or during their breaks.
The NWU says the industrial action is to register the union's disappointment with the brigade management over the 2015-2017 wage negotiations.
The union says little progress has been made in the negotiations with only three items settled on in its 23-point claim.
According to the NWU, it met twice at the Ministry of Labour without any success.
It further says it wrote to Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie in July requesting his urgent intervention but to date, there has been no response.
