George Headley Primary are 2017 TVJ JSCQ champs

The curtains came down yesterday evening on the 15th season of Television Jamaica's Junior Schools' Challenge Quiz competition, with George Headley Primary, from St Andrew, walking away as the 2017 champions.
The studio was packed with sponsors as well as supporters for George Headley and the other finalist, Meadowbrook Preparatory.
It was a nerve wracking 30-minute wait for members of the audience who watched as the teams battled for the trophy.
Both teams had remained consistent throughout the rounds and created much anticipation leading up to the final match. But George Headley Primary managed to fend off Meadowbrook Preparatory to win the match 26 to 24. This is the first time George Headley Primary have won the coveted title.
Shouts erupted from the crowd at the end of the match when the George Headley team was announced the winners of the 2017 competition after buzzing in to win the match which went into extra time. The teams had been tied on 24 points at the end of the buzz section.
George Headley coach Andre Plummer said he was elated.
"It took years and now we finally have achieved this win,” an ecstatic Plummer told The Gleaner.
He said it had been a tricky season and that he was proud the team was able to successfully fight for the title.
One of the many prizes the winning team received was a monetary award of $250,000 from NCB Insurance Company Limited.
