Police Federation boss among 107 promotions

Amid the contentious wage negotiations with the Government, the chairman of the Police Federation, Sergeant Raymond Wilson, has been promoted.

Wilson, who has led the Police Federation for nearly 10 years, has been promoted to the rank of assistant superintendent.

The federation represents rank-and-file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) up to the rank of inspector.

Wilson was among 107 police personnel whose promotions were published in the latest force orders issued by the JCF.

The Police Federation has twice rejected the Government's offer of a six per cent wage increase spread over the 2017-2019 contract period. After the first offer was rejected, scores of police personnel staged a sick-out.

Sixty-seven persons were promoted from the rank of sergeant to inspector, while 28 persons were promoted from inspector and deputy superintendent to assistant superintendent.

Twelve sergeants and inspectors were also promoted to the rank of assistant superintendent.
