The Police Service Commission (PSC) has started its hunt for the next person to head the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

In a release yesterday, the PSC thanked Commissioner George Quallo for agreeing to serve and indicated that he would reach the normal retirement period at the end of January.

"It is customary for police officers to remit office at this retirement point while maintaining their leave entitlement," said the PSC as it confirmed that Quallo would go on pre-retirement leave on Wednesday.

"An acting commissioner will be appointed for the brief period prior to the appointment of a new commissioner," added the PSC without confirming reports that Deputy Commissioner Clifford Blake will be asked to serve in that role.
