A new Police Service Commission (PSC) is to be appointed shortly by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, and a reliable source close to the Government has indicated that the membership will comprise a mix of new and familiar faces.

It is believed that Professor Gordon Shirley will continue as chairman of the PSC and will be joined by Dr Marshall Hall, who also served on the last commission.

University of the West Indies Professor Anthony Harriott is said to be among those to be appointed, while retired Rear Admiral Peter Brady is expected to serve on the commission.

Senior member of the clergy, the Reverend Dr Maitland Evans, is being touted as the fifth member of the PSC.

The new commission will have the task of selecting the next police commissioner following the departure of George Quallo last week.
