Several students and a teacher of the Mona High School in St Andrew were yesterday rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies following an explosion, reportedly from an experiment that had gone terribly wrong.

The Gleaner understands that the experiment was being conducted at the institution in the afternoon when loud explosions and cries for help from students caught the attention of staff on the compound.

The students, along with one teacher, were subsequently assisted to the hospital for medical treatment.

Up to press time, the condition of the students and the teacher was unknown.

Efforts to reach Mona High School principal Kevin Jones were unsuccessful.
